Prof. Dr. de Boer is a Cardiologist and Head of Cardiology at the Erasmus Medical Center, the Netherlands. He is co-coordinator of the Dose consortium and Vice-Chairman of the Dutch Cardiology Association (NVVC).

His research focuses on trying to identify the causes of heart failure, biomarkers and the connection of heart failure with other diseases.
