Thickened heart muscle at cellular level

Prof. Dr. Jolanda van der Velden of the Amsterdam UMC explains that scientific Research has shown that heart muscle cells with a genetic defect consume much more energy than healthy heart muscle cells, and therefore no homogenous contraction of the heart takes place. The genetically defective heart is actually continuously exercising.
